The person named above has applied for a position as a counselor in our all girls’ summer camp. Your assessment and evaluation of this person will be of great help in selecting our staff. It is vital for leaders of girls to be of high ideals, have integrity, as well as get along well with others in the intimate life of camp, and demonstrate a willingness to put the camper in front of his or her own needs. A counselor’s summer involves living and working with children between the ages of 6 to 15 for seven weeks. The counselors will have to instruct in the activity at which they consider themselves most proficient. Matoaka staff are with the girls throughout the day, and then sleep in the same cabin with a group of girls at night. Because living with girls can be exhausting, and because counselors live in close proximity to the campers, the experience is very demanding.
